In today’s lesson we looked at how if you look back in time at some of the key moments in history they have been tampered with, thanks to Photography.
This is my personal favorite photograph that we looked at in class today. It is of the Italian dictator in 1942 named Benito Mussolini. On the left is the edited photo changed by himself on the right is the un- scrambled with photograph.
The original on the right shows Mussolini on a horse to look powerful but, he needed to change it because there was a man holding the horse. Almost to say that he could not control the horse and had no power.
So in the left he decided to edited out the man to show a different view in the history books.
We also looked at in a group a photograph that had been cropped where we had to complete what was going on. Listing the Connotations and Denotations we came up with as a group with some different prospects. But the landscape of what we were thinking was dramatically changed when we were given another photo in the same location. We all represented it as a war at first.
Things then changed to thinking it was more of a natural disaster. Our tutor then told us what the picture really did represent which was the recent earthquake in Italy. This showed us that we all do have different views when first looking at a photograph.
